How you can Help the Smoky Mountain Area after the Wildfires
I was born and raised here in Sevier County and I have never been more proud to say so. This is a special place-for those of us that have had families raised here for generations and for the millions that visit each and every year. What has happened is nothing short of a tragedy and the city of Gatlinburg, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and surrounding areas have a long way to go. The incredible support from the community and honestly all over the nation has been nothing short of uplifting and amazing. The generosity of so many will help us all recover from these wildfires.
We have had many calls asking how we are and again, we offer our sincerest gratitude. Many of you have asked how you can help the Smoky Mountain Area after the Wildfires. We have put together a list of ways you can donate and know that your donations will help the families that were affected and are now left without homes, belongings and even jobs. Be assured, that all of Sevier County and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park thank you!
The city of Pigeon Forge still welcomes you to come visit. The Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg are still working on getting back on their feet, but it will happen. The main parkway in Gatlinburg was miraculously untouched, for the most part. Not all damage has been assessed of course as search and rescue efforts are still underway. One of the best ways to help this community is to continue taking vacations to our area. Our residents need and want to get back to work. All businesses are open in Pigeon Forge and we truly look forward to having you come down and stay with us.
Donate to the “My People Fund”
Last night Dolly Parton announced that her Dollywood Foundation would be donating $1000 per month to all the families that lost everything. This will aid local families and get them on the road back to recovery. You can see Dolly’s message below and visit the Foundation website for more information.
Donations to Citizens National Bank
Citizens National Bank are accepting monetary donations to assist the families that have lost their homes. You can mail a check to them at 200 Forks of the River Parkway, Sevierville, TN 37862 and make it payable to City of Pigeon Forge Fire Relief Fund. Again, thank you and God Bless.
